Areas of clinical and surgical expertise refined across four decades of practice.

Robotic kidney transplantation

Pioneered the world’s first robotic kidney transplantation under regional hypothermia (Jan 2013) — a technique now adopted at centres across four continents.

Robotic urological surgery

Robotic prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical cystectomy and complex reconstructive urology. Started the first robotic urology programme in a corporate hospital in India (Fortis, 2006).

Urologic oncology

Prostate, kidney, bladder and upper-tract urothelial cancers — minimally invasive and robotic approaches. Worked closely with Prof. Ash Tewari and Prof. Mani Menon at Mount Sinai (2022).

Minimally invasive urology

Initiated India’s first laparoscopic donor nephrectomy programme (Apollo, 1997) and started the country’s laparoscopic urology programme in 1999, propagating it nationwide.

Endourology & stone surgery

Started India’s first comprehensive stone centre at SGPGI Lucknow in 1990 — integrating ESWL, percutaneous surgery, ureteroscopy and stone analysis. Elected to Board of Directors, Endourological Society (2009–2012).
